Improvised Shakespeare with Alan Hawkins Comes to Issaquah
New Eastside Workshop Opens January 6
ISSAQUAH, WA — A new four-week workshop, Improvised Shakespeare with Alan Hawkins, is coming to the Eastside beginning January 6 at the Unexpected Productions Improv School in Issaquah. This high-energy class invites participants to explore the bold, playful world of Shakespeare through improvisation, blending character creation, poetic language, and theatrical movement into a dynamic weekly experience. The workshop is open to actors, improvisers, and anyone looking to expand their creative skills, whether or not they have prior experience with the Bard.
Across four sessions, students will learn to build improvised characters using heightened language, discover rhythm and status within scenes, explore poetic and expressive improv games, and perform monologues and scenes inspired by Shakespeare’s comedies and dramas. Participants will also examine how Shakespeare’s tools translate into additional theatrical styles, giving performers new creative pathways and instincts for the stage.
Classes meet on Tuesdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Unexpected Productions – Issaquah, located at 1315 NW Mall Street, Suite 4. Enrollment is limited to 16 participants. Tuition is $270 ($282.29 with fees and taxes), and the prerequisite is Improv 100 or equivalent.
